Following the example of the early church, members of the congregation are elected and ordained as deacons to provide a ministry of sympathy and service after the example of Christ. The Board of Deacons ministers to people who are in need, sick, or grieving. Deacons also assist in worship and support the fellowship activities of the congregation.
Please go to the church’s new website www. wrpres.org, especially for the calendar as the WRPC calendar on this website can no longer be updated.
Don’t miss the “God and the Big Stuff of Life” sermons this fall and Novel Insights–sermons inspired by great books interspersed throughout the year. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis has already been shared (see sermons). The rest of the books in the order of when they’ll be discussed include: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (9/29), One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson, Plainsong by Kent Haruf, The Color Purple by Alice Walker, Gilead by Marilynne Robinson and A Gesture Life by Chang-Rae Lee.
